About The Inn
The Inn at Foster Falls
Nestled next to the New River in Wythe County, VA, is Foster Falls – a place that is both timeless in its connection to the natural world and deeply rooted in the rich history of Southwest Virginia. The Inn at Foster Falls – a hard-to-miss two story brick building with wrap-around porches – has stood at the center of Foster Falls since 1887 and has experienced many lifetimes since. It was originally a hotel, but was later a school, and lastly an orphanage.
When the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation purchased the building in 1995, they had a vision not only to restore a significant piece of Foster Falls history, but to provide visitors with a truly unique overnight experience. The intimate setting of this 10-room boutique hotel gives us the opportunity to pay attention to the personal details that make you feel right at home. Each room is as unique as the building itself, each with a king, queen, or single bed, high ceilings, spacious bathrooms, and plenty of natural lighting. In-room amenities include high-speed internet and DirecTV, a safe, refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, a sample of our locally roasted signature 1887 coffee, and a selection of premium teas. But in so beautiful a setting, we hope you will step outside to claim your rocker on the porch to sip your morning coffee or watch the sunset. Later, relax in an Adirondack chair by the firepit and survey the stars. The New River will provide the background music as it makes its endless journey over the nearby falls.
A good day includes good food. To start your day, enjoy our take on a “southern style” continental breakfast that includes a homemade hot dish, fresh breads, fruit, house made granola, and plenty of the 1887 coffee. The Pantry is stocked with fresh sandwiches and gourmet snacks and drinks for you to purchase for your day on the trail. The Inn is open 365 days a year. Come experience our warm welcome, no matter the season!
